What this means
Encryption transforms readable information into protected data. Without the appropriate key, a raw copy of the database does not allow personal information to be read directly.
This protection is in addition to other security measures: access control, backups, logging, firewall and monitoring of intrusion attempts.
Protected emails
Email addresses are stored in encrypted form when the operation of the platform allows it.
Protected identity
Names, addresses and sensitive contact details are progressively protected by application encryption.
Off-base keys
The encryption keys are separated from MariaDB and placed outside the public tree of the site.
Access control
The data is only decrypted when the platform needs it to provide the requested service.
How WOOBAZ protects data
- The platform receives data useful to the service, for example an email address or contact details.
- Before storage, the application encrypts this data with a key kept separately.
- The database retains an encrypted value, unusable alone in the event of unauthorized copying.
- When a legitimate action requests it, WOOBAZ temporarily decrypts the data to execute the service.
Encryption greatly reduces the exposure of data in the event of an incident, but it must be accompanied by good practices: strong passwords, limited access, updates and vigilance against phishing.
Your rights remain unchanged
Encryption does not limit your rights of access, rectification or deletion. You can make your requests from the page dedicated to personal data.
